I test my bath before I sit
And I am always moved to wonderment,
That what chills the finger not a bit
Is so frigid upon the fundament.
Ogden Nash, “Samson Agonites”
Bernard has just gotten his bath, pillow and book of poetry just right for an evening’s relaxation, when along comes Scooter (I think) with his rubber duckie. Bad dog! No! No! (Splash) Ow! Ow! Those claws!.
Also… I just read the comments for yesterday, plus the end of Sunday’s forum…
I was feeling under the weather… something I pretty much never mention here (and NOT anything respiratory!)…
But it means I didn’t give any “likes” till a few minutes ago… and I missed some of the conversation.
Like hearing about that earthquake… glad nobody was too close.
Also glad, Montana Lady, that apparently, your computer only had the sniffles…
@ Perkycat… and that I don’t live in Idaho! LOL
Happy x3 … never thanked you for your kind offer… but yeah… a little far for laundry. :)
Also, @Gerard and Plods… Sometimes I feel like it’s on top of Mt. Whitney… but Santa Rosa has 170,000 people.
Not as “urban” as Oakland or SF, & surrounded by farmland and forests, but we have, as I’ve said before, very good technical services.
My ISP is a leader in fiber internet, both locally and in an ever-expanding reach to other counties, just not to the outskirts of their own city… where I live.
And where neither the population density nor income levels attract the investment that speedier internet would require.
When I complain, they say it’s not worth in-filling old neighborhoods, still served by ancient copper wiring leased from the phone company.
Other DSL providers use that same wiring, and charge more.
It’s very frustrating, but I can’t move… or afford cable or satellite. Sigh…

Bassets always look like they’re having a day off.

Wow, Cleo pals… Will you look at that!
A second brand new poster this week, from StelBel…
just for us, in the
April 2nd 2020 “CLEO and COMPANY”
See it on Sherpa…
http://www.comicssherpa.com/site/feature?uc_comic=cscwy
How does she do it?
And it’s “Ferris Basset’s Day Off.”
I know it was aimed at 2 year old pups….
not really puppies but not quite full-grown dogs…
But I loved this comedy!A very young, very naughty, but ever-so-charming, Matthew Bodbiscuit, makes a day’s escape from obedience school,
dragging his best pal around all the attractions of Cleveland…. and you find yourself rooting for him to get away with it.
Ferris Basset could do no wrong…. and with his soulful eyes and mischievous puppy grin… neither can Matthew Brodbiscuit.
The other stars are pretty much just along for the ride…
but a basset always makes an amiable foil….
and even the smaller roles are played by the Howlywood “pick of the litter” … so to speak.
Sigh… I see that the humans were at it again….
I never saw their film in the theaters but there’s a DVD,,,
I guess it was so mediocre without any basset hounds, it must have gone straight to video.
They don’t even credit most of the cast… well come on… how an a truant human ever have the charm of a truant dog?

Looks like he’s in there to stay awhile. I hope no one needs to use the facilities.

Lovely poster, Stel! Nice of you to credit the hard working canines behind the scenes. But what does Ferris have in his paw?

I remember the MAD-Magazine version of the human movie – and I’ve seen it on TV many years later.
Plus there was a series based on the movie (IMO) which I loved: “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose”, starring Corin Nemec.

Here’s a different human version of today’s poster, this one with credits….
just so you can see how hard they tried to find actors and crew with similar names to the bassets:
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0057/3728/3618/products/060580af794c7bfb3d58bc48da30443b_0290e73c-158e-4eb1-b2fa-a6693657ccd6_480x.progressive.jpg?v=1573616023
Imitation may be the highest form of flattery…
but it didn’t help.
The basset movie and poster are still superior.
Also… I just read the comments for yesterday, plus the end of Sunday’s forum…
