We know that can’t be a cigarette that the Z is smoking because tobacco is bad. So that must be a joint because those are totally harmless. And that bottle contains carmel colored artesian spring water.

Probly a cigarette. I was about the only person I knew who didn’t smoke in those days. It was a bodily function, like eating or sleeping. Any workplace had ashtrays everywhere.
