Yeah, someone speculated Wally might be getting edgy from being cooped up. Maybe Holly will help him recognise his anxiety. Either that or knock him out with Chic’s help, and smuggle him out. Vote! Please?
From Wally’s body language, I don’t think this is all about pride, as much as he wants it to be. In between the Milk Three debacle and the crummy way he’s been treated in Lizardtown, he wants to lash out at someone.
If you (like me) enjoy finding out the history of strips, then come on over to the Endtown Appreciation Society! We discuss the M-W-F strip, flashback to the earliest strips, and also do ‘Genesis flashbacks’ to the strips that Aaron did in high school and college, which feature many of the characters we know and love from Endtown!
I normally do not like doing this type of thing but here goes (and please forgive me ;-)
If you are near the Birmingham, Alabama area this weekend and have nothing to do, why not check out the first FAL-CON http://www.falconvention.net/
It is located at Montevallo High School in the small collage town of Montevallo, Alabama. Come dressed as your favorite EndTown character (I do a very good Mayor Trimble).
I’m almost tempted to start a contest to see how many ways the lizards can rig this contest, only I’m afraid it may spoil the surprise when they actually do it.
I got to thinking that the stupid notion of Wally fighting and / or beating Phil for some notion of disproving the claim of reptilian superiority, is somewhat comparable to someone’s stupid notion of leaving Endtown behind for good because of recent political turmoil. But I don’t think Holly will appreciate the comparison.
“Sometimes the right thing to do is stupid!!” That reminds me of the part where Wally got into a fight to the death with Flask in order to foil her plans to destroy the Topsider outpost. Wally was nearly shot at close range because he tried to protect a bunch of people who had only recently tried to kill him and would happily kill him, Holly and any other mutants they ran across. That is definitely stupid, especially as what Flask was trying to do was like the allied bombing of Nazi Germany during WWII. One can argue that by preventing the death of (supposedly innocent) children in the Topsider colony, Wally was doing the “right” thing in upholding the respect for life.By comparison, what Wally is doing here, risking his life in a rigged contest in order to destroy the Lizards’ belief in their own superiority, is just stupid. There is no to be gained from it.

Now if only Wally had access to a giant rubber band, an engine block, and a wheelbarrow!
