Coincidentally, I had an interesting conversation yesterday with one of the contractor employees who work in my building. He stated that due to the Affordable Care Act (a.k.a.: “Obamacare”) he was able to obtain much upgraded health insurance through Blue Cross of Alabama instead to the inadequate policy provided by some essentially fly-by-night insurance company offered by his employer. (Apparently a health policy offered simply to satisfy the letter of the law.) He said he’s quite happy to have the opportunity to upgrade his and his family’s health care. And he’s still going to vote for Republican candidates who have publicly declared themselves dedicated to revoking ACA.`I see disconnects like this frequently where I work. I just don’t get it.
“I went to a comic strip website (of a non-political comic strip) and a political fight broke out!” This happens depressingly frequently at GoComics. Today’s led naturally into it, of course, but sometimes I’m baffled how (and WHY!) people of all political stripes (and spots!) can get political meaning out of nearly anything.
Alabama_Al—-While “ObamaCare” may be good for some, it is not as great as some portray it. My stepson who is a hospital director, has seen recent drastic changes in the healthcare business—mostly for the worse. Doctors & hospitals are not being reimbursed enough to cover expenses from government mandated payment amounts. In the next year or so, unless things change, the public will see the unintended consequences of this program. I have recently read on non partisan sites, of emergency room & hospitals closing down, & doctors retiring or not accepting patients with Obamacare coverage.
Obama Death Panels? I guess you might consider those who died & are still dying waiting for life saving VA care, a visible uncovered sign, & the tip of the iceberg, for those death panels you make light of.
