If they did simplify the tax code, it would make a whole industry have to find other work. Tax software and consultants are a major industry. The individual people helping you with your taxes may not make much, but H&R Block and TurboTax make a fortune this time of year.

Of course it was many sessions of Congress that gave us that tax code to begin with.
