Alice: Why is Grandma's house so small? Mom: All the house in her neighborhood used to be small. Mom: Then they tore down 100 little houses and built 300 big ones. But they didn't tear down Grandma's. Alice: Because Big Shirley ate them! Mom: No. Grandma's collection of lawn ornaments was named a National Local treasure!

This one reminds me of my husband driving the kids to see his grandparents’ old house in the next town over, only to find that it had been torn down and replaced by some big generic thing that barely fit on the lot. Sad :(

Big Shirley plus a nationally-impressive collection of lawn ornaments: that’s enough to intimidate anyone! And yes, human-, including old lady-, sized houses are much preferable to the results of the Urban Density Race to Excess.

Huge honkin’ houses with postage stamp lawns. Hope you enjoy having the kids running around indoors all day.

How can you build 300 big houses where they used to be 100 little ones? Isn’t supposed to be the other way around?

Is it a national treasure or a local one? No such thing as a national local!
