That sounds too overwhelming to me…I’d rather go to others houses than have to slave over mine. All I have to do is make a yummy cake or two, and off I go…! ;)
My mother-in-law is hosting Paul’s birthday party today; tomorrow she is having an open house. On the 21st she is hosting a family secret Santa, and then Christmas and New Year.
I’d never stay at anyone’s house. I’d book some place else, even if the expense meant staying fewer days. But that’s just me. Separate places make for better friends and relatives. I have seen that truth a time or two.
MayKitten: I have felt that the ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny applies to behavior after birth. The first attempts at movement as fish-like, then a splayed-limb crawl like reptiles, then quadruped crawling with the limbs under the body, then toddling bipedal attempts, and then arboreal climbing into everything.

Sounds like a tremendous amount of work. Do you have a lot of ‘family helpers’?
