In October 2013, 91-year-old World War II veteran Ernie Andrus started running across America coast to coast a feat that he expects to take up to 4 years! A mosque that opened in Maguindanao, Philippines, in June 2014 was painted bright pink to symbolize peace and love. American World War II fighter pilot William Ash made 13 escape attempts from German POW camps, succeeding on 6 occasions, and escaping for good in 1945. He died in 2014 at age 96.

William Ash! What a great thing to tell on this Pearl Harbor day! Better than any lie coming out of the cinema!

William Ash was supposedly the inspiration for Hilts, the character played by Steve McQueen in The Great Escape

The way I remember Pearl Harbor was anything but happy!!!!! We will REMEMBER Pearl Harbor as the Japanese REMEMBER Hiroshima & Nagasaki!!!! So it is; so shall it be!!!!! It is NOT, & never shall be, a happy-type “holiday”! Those of you, who have not been taught any history in school, have been left wanting!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if that six-month-old mosque will get hit by the typhoon that has already reached the eastern Philippines.
