I was re-watching “Holiday Inn” (Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire) and was amazed when they donned blackface! I hadn’t remembered that part. And the sympathetic Mammy character and chillun’.It wasn’t malicious, it was the times, I guess, but even so… A good movie other than that (the debut of the song “White Christmas”).

Also brings to mind the ‘30s B&W Warner Bros cartoons they don’t show anymore.

@steverinoAlso Disney’s “Song of the South” is not shown anymore. The happy life on the old plantation?

You can pick up Song of the South in Europe pretty easily, Disney is not so ashamed it won’t sell it (and since it is based on far older tales, why should they be ashamed) but is smart enough not to court the lawsuits Al Sharpton or someone will file if you can buy it here.
