Is Gil inviting the school board or Art Standish? And when did Marty Moon get elected to the school board? Wait, that isn’t Marty, he doesn’t have the spiky bangs.
Anyone else notice that Art, the control freak, hasn’t attended a single game since his son came to Milford? Does someone record it so he can critique the game later?
In all reality , Art ends his speech saying " Thats what we do here in America , Gil is a True American , if you the School Board doesn t support Coach Thorp you re against everything this great country stands for. GOD BLESS AMERICA , OUR LADY OF VICTORY PRAY FOR US . GOOD NIGHT .
Perhaps there were some liberties taken in recruiting Tru(e). But you can’t hold a whole football program responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn’t we blame the whole hight school football system? And if the whole football system is guilty, then isn’t this an indictment of our educational institutions in general? I put it to you, Marty – isn’t this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we’re not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!
And with the personal invitation to tomorrow night’s game against Valley Tech – thanks Gil . . . everything is puppy dogs, rainbows and ice cream in MILFord.
I can hear the theme, see the rainbow go across the screen and then see the words appear – “The more you know”
i think the middle baord member is Art Standish 30 years in the future. he has time traveled back to see his glory days, and the speech he gave to the board to save his son from national embarrassment, therefore propelling him to be the starting QB at Miami University of ohio, leading him to multi[ple offers of salesperson at used car dealerships throughout Youngstown. That’s some Fine work, young Art. Fine work.
Board President-“Not so fast, Coach Thorp. The board needs to consider the testimony and render an opinion. Do you think the athletic department controls our high school? What do you think this is?-the NCAA?”
“Lessons in leadership.” Um, what? What lessons did Gil(e) have a hand in exactly? The only thing I remember him doing all season other than not starting Tru(e) was asking the Troy(e)s to teach Jarrod(e) a lesson. Which they really didn’t even do anything either.Mopped Up Thorp shows us how Art(e) is now all in for Milford.
Integrity, let’s see, Gil takes money from the school to coach and the players call their own plays. In the summer, he gets paid by the country club for driving by and blowing the horn on his way to The Bucket. Now that’s integrity and the American Way!

“Thanks for your interest”? Gil has been uncharacteristically smartassish throughout this story.

It sounds to me like Mr. Standish is complimenting Gil for “the lessons in leadership”. Am I wrong about that?
