Not quite exactly. With the Japanese toilet, you still have your pants down around your ankles. If you simply squat, you’ll mess up the back of your pants. You have to hold the pipe above the bowl and kind of lean back a lot.
Karl knows squat about it.
My parents worked at a refugee camp in Thailand years ago and they called them “squatty potty.”
I’ve seen them in Malaysia. They also had “American Toilets”, which I used instead, just to be safe!
