The fastest I’ve every cycled the route home from work was when I was trying to out-run a rain storm while riding the bicycle I only take out in fair weather. I managed to beat the rain by just a few feet (dismounted and got onto the front porch just as the down-pour began), but as I climbed hills, I would get hit by a drop or two, then I’d make up time on the descents.

Once our family outruned a very cold front going from Houston to the border along the coast at the 77. Every time we stopped for anything, it catched us and it was like changing from wearing no shirt to full coat.

I had to do that once. I was out for a walk when a freak thunderstorm came through my area. It was a mad dash to the nearest gazebo! I got there JUST before the downpour came! :P
