I enjoyed “Lone Star Planet” on gutenberg.org. It had “dinosaurs” (large herbivores with edible meat and corresponding carnivores), and a bunch of Texans emmigrated there to farm them. Biggest “cows” in the galaxy.
Interesting politics. It was not a crime to shoot a politician – but could be subject to a civil suit if enough other people thought they were actually pretty decent. Needless to say, no one really wanted to serve, and were careful to do only the bare minimum. Progressives didn’t survive.
