Burl is the perfect neighbor. Everyone would want to live next to him. NOT! I’ll bet Burl still thinks that it’s random neighborhood kids that keeps putting the burning paper sack full of (chocolates) on his front step.
And on Halloween, random neighborhood kids retaliate for the (one mini) tootsie roll, by smashing his pumkin. On Easter they get egged. On Christmas their lights get unscrewed. And on Valentines day, a big bowl of cherry jello gets dumped on the front porch. (not that I ever did any of those things, no sir!)
In certain places blowing leaves back onto your neighbors yard could(and has) gotten folks DOA. NOT a good practice but it DOES provide business for the local mortuaries.
What falls in your yard is your responsibility to remove. Maybe they will leave it until it rots and they have all kinds of bugs and insects because of it. Apparently there isn’t any HOA to tell them to remove it.
Now we know why they don’t have trees in their yard, too much work in the fall and too many birds would use the bird bath.. Not to mention the squirrels and other creatures that use trees for food and homes.
Ahhhhh, O, Henry’s “The Last Leaf”……good short story ‘bout the value of personal sacrifice for those you really care about…..and the old movie version (run with several other mini-movies of O. Henry works, two of them featuring cameos by someone named Monroe whose star was climbing) will bring tears to your eyes, methinks!! And this dovetails nicely into today’s passion play in PennysWorld, me also thinks!!
It is with great sadness that I am writing this. I have received an email from DAZZ’s son that she passed away on December 6.Here is a copy of that email:
Dear Family and Friends,
" My mother, Virginia L. D., passed away on 6 December 2014 in North Phoenix of a Heart Attack while driving (she never was a great driver for those of us who really knew her). Virginia was born on 30 Sep 37 and passed away on 6 Dec 14 at age 77. She worked as a Draftsperson and HVAC CAD/CAM professional before retiring in North Phoenix. She is survived by her four children and six wonderful grandchildren. She was a talented professional, a caring creative and artistic individual, and a terrific mother and will be deeply missed. She thoroughly enjoyed her many hobbies, her birds (Cuddles the Cockatoo and Fitzroy the African Grey Parrot), and her warm affiliation with the SCA as Beatrice Fayrewether of the Aviary. She requested to be cremated with her close companion Cuddles the Cockatoo. Memorial Services will be at Samaritan Funeral Home at 1505 E. McDowell Rd, Phoenix AZ on 13 Dec 14 from 9AM until noon. In lieu of flowers she requested donations to any Cancer Society or Organization. May God Bless Her Soul in Heaven."
