The company I work at have the same tradition; except it isn’t considered generosity but a right for it to be allowed. Some people don’t know how good they have it and complain about it when they don’t get it.

Maybe she should consider Chinese catering, a Dim Sum Thanksgiving.

I was alone on Thanksgiving when I was 17 (I had to work and parents took kid sister to New York). So I invited all the people from church who were unable to get together with family for Thanksgiving and asked them to bring a cultural favorite dish while I provided the turkey, stuffing and gravy. It was one of the most fun and diverse dinners I had ever had. There were 17 of us total. It was fun.

The final Roberts family Thanksgiving, my 48th on this earth, was just my Mom and me on tray tables. Dad was gone 8 years, and none of my brothers could make it. Mom was on a walker, so staying in her living room chair was easier. Life is changes.***********************This year we’re having eleven. All Chris’ family, of which I’m now a part. Some years a couple fewer at the table, but always a good gathering. So if I’m asked if I have something to be thankful for- yes, I think I do.

Nothing wrong with a Salvation Army Thanksgiving dinner. We had ours last night and we served somewhere between 500-600 meals between eating in and take outs. I served until we had to take red kettles in then left for the main office to help there. Someone was nice enough to bring me a to go box to eat while I worked at bringing kettles in. Turkey, ’taters, green beans, stuffing, gravy all the goodies, very thankful. And tomorrow we will go out to eat with the Corps officers (Pastors).
