Replying to LadyKat yesterday: your private employer can do that. However, it’s not really a matter of political correctness. It’s a matter of what your employer thinks will be best for business, ergo it’s “business correctness.”
1. People tend to forget (ignore) that there are other holidays in December also.2. The school is NOT cancelling christmas, they are just renaming the time off in December. You still get the time off.3. People are still free to celebrate whatever holiday they wish4. People are still free to wish anybody happy (whatever) holiday they wish.
One of my clients is a nice old Jewish gentleman. Every year he throws a party and makes a point of wishing everyone Merry Christmas. One of my muslim friends does the same (wishing Merry Christmas, not throwing a big party).
Do you keep up with the news regarding First Amendment issues and the separation of church & state in the US?
If so, then you would see the death threats by good “christians” against those who challenge teacher-led prayer in public schools, religious proselytizing by gov’t employees, and many violations of the Establishment Clause.
There are many instances of death threats against the people and their families of those involved. How about the belittling of a 16 year-old female student, by a member of the Rhode Island state gov’t, calling her a “evil-little thing” on the radio for challenging a school sponsored religious poster in her school.
The “tolerance” is NOT only one direction. The christians in the US have shown that they can be, are are, just as violent, bigoted, and hateful as other groups. It is the extremists who take it to fruition in each.

No Muslims in Zack’s town and they want to make the school board cancel Christmas? How awkward.
