Boris Karloff played so many monsters that I’m sure Gruesome could blend right in, were he to enter the MonsterCon.
So, Gruesome and Einstein did get away, but it seems that they didn’t get far. The chase is on, as far as I’m concerned.
I just got back after an extended weekend trip. I’ve been up about 22 hours, about half of which I was driving, so I’ll respond to some more of yesterday’s comments that were aimed at me after I get up.
MonsterCon is surely a place where Gruesome [Boris Karloff] and Dr. Einstein [Peter Lorre] would fit right in! Maybe they wouldn’t have to steal a car after all, as long as they ditch that wreck somewhere a little less obvious than right across the street from the Locher Auditorium. Then we might see how alert, or alternatively inept, the MCU really is. They certainly don’t seem to handle crowded situations well….
Really ‘good thinking’ by the Author here, as a place of temporary concealment . . . just have the damaged car out of sight too ! It could be a giveaway !
Already the Locher Auditorium raises ‘memories’ of the Science Museum, and echoes Dick Tracy’s famous ‘run away’ day - from that author’s Johnny Nothing in 2010
Good observers above - note the ‘Chase is On’, yet no ‘evidence’ that a police car has even ‘started’ - yet ? Had those reinforcements been more than a figure of speech - the sirens would be wailing in panel one !
This is likely the 6th appearance of the Locher Auditorium !
Since a lot of fans come to conventions in costume, those two may draw a lot of attention because of who they look like. (I wonder if Gruesome will be asked to sign autographs…)
@Starman1948Thanks for the panels from that strip. It does seem to be the first appearance of the Locher Auditorium. I thought that the artwork was excellent at the time (and it was) but looking back at it now, I actually think that the current art is better still!
Seeing the Locher Auditorium reminds me of a friend who always seems to eat Mexican food (with plenty of frijoles) for lunch before he steps out dancing with his wife. It always is a “show stopper”.

My first thought was that they were going to carjack the Nitrates! Now, there’s a story!

Monstercon! That should be a perfect place to hide while the Nitrates get into gear.
Good morning everyone!

Convenient that Locher Auditorium happens to be hosting Monstercon tonight.
Gruesome should fit right in.

Here’s Joe and Mike’s opportunity to work in lots of cameos.
[I’m hoping to see Robby the Robot!]

Would make sense if the Nitrates ended up at Monstercon as well.

Or parked there.
Keep your eyes peeled for a “van” with an X-Mas Tree on top of it.

Meanwhile …
… we still don’t know if everyone survived Saturday/Sunday’s explosion.

I’m thinking they hijack the Musters’ coach or some other George Barris type car. Nope that wouldn’t be conspicuous at all would it?
JohnRPelt about 10 years ago
This is going to end up like SHARKNADO, right, with them tooling around town in a monster Humvee or other cookie cutter car?
