I don’t even know where to begin. Leave it to Burl to equate “getting lucky” with something tragic. I would like to apologize to anyone who had this problem. Burl is an idiot, that is the only answer I can offer. Another thought, could Burl be asking the nice policeman if he has had any luck getting pregnant? I mean personally? If so, please see above reference to idiocy.
Did I just get the implication that Burl thinks……no, can’t be! Burl wouldn’t imply that Deb was using the therapist to get pregnant as well as her husband, would he? Sadly, I think he is. Idiot, this is NOT a joking subject with some couples.
Two things. The first is this could be the subject for a short short story. Paragraph One, where Burl reveals that he does not understand the process by which babies are made.Paragraph Two where Joy manages to convince him to try something “just once,” resulting in Patty.Paragraph Three where Burl is repulsed by “that” and besides, it has ruined his clam digger. The second thing is that Burl is, as usual, incredibly insensitive or stupid or both. Any luck getting pregnant? That would be news. Any luck getting lucky? Grounds for a smack upside the head.Observation: Most docs recommend giving the process a year rather than six months. (Although it only took about 15 hours for Miss Jenny and me, it also took several years, a lot of pain and stress and over $50K for our daughter and husband to not achieve success. They ended up adopting.) We were blessed with four wonderful children and I would not give any of them up, though at times I would have gladly strangled them one and all!
Or, it could be Burl being a smart @$$, making a snotty remark about the statement ‘…WE’VE been trying to get pregnant.’ I know several people who get their knickers in a twist when they hear the phrase, ‘WE are pregnant’ and insist only the woman is preggers: ‘So what’s this, “we” crap? Who do you think you are? Lindbergh?’ Seriously. Some people get really spun up about that. Personally, I couldn’t care less about the phraseology (yes, yes, I know, technically it’s wrong!) but somehow I get the feeling that Burl is one of those needlebutts who LIKE to get annoyed with something like that, just to show some sort of superiority, or his irritation with ‘modern’ turns of phrase.
Being the smart a** that I am I would have asked the same question as Burl.Only because if your going to air it all in public expect dumb questions in return.
Well, if CHPD gets pregnant he’ll win some sort of prize, for sure. I honestly, wonder if Burl thinks CHPD had been trying to “get lucky” outside of his marriage.
On Judge Judy, some idiot at a paternity hearing, wanted to know why the woman never had to have a DNA to see if the baby was hers!
Burl’s an idiot, but he’s not quite that retarded. He is, though, deliberately being a boor, being sarcastic and mean. I hate to admit it, but a have a smidgin of sympathy for him. Well, not really sympathy, but I’ll say I don’t mind so much his dig at the guy’s apparent claim that he will also be pregnant if they’re successful. .I have to admit, though, that Burl would be just as bad in the same situation, except he’d be the one to announce they were trying to become pregnant and he didn’t know what was wrong with her. .Burl, of course, is, in a way, a sexual athlete. Or at least his sperm obviously are. They had to be Olympic class long-distance swimmers to get her knocked up with Patty. Considering where the starting line was, they probably had to do it in relays.

Well, “DKNY” & “CHPD”, if you’re even a tad too Penny-like, there’s a good argument for NOT having any……..
