Wet & Soggy, I hope your sister is well. Roy and Chester have begun the “Wrestlemania” phase of their friendship, it has gotten out of hand a few times causing cat chaos in the house. It seemed to coincide with Chester’s latest growth spurt. December is the month I have been dreading and I’m praying that I’ll be able to file my taxes for a refund early as I’ll not be working 11 days this month due to xmas break and two days for the operation.Thank goodness for the kitties, I hold them and my troubles temporarily melt away. Poodle has taken to jumping in my lap and climbing on my chest for pets and purrs lately, despite her 15 pounds I happily put up with it as she was our first cat together and she is a sweetie.I have a feeling she knows I am really stressed out.I call her my “Poody Pal” for good reason.
Good morning. I’m coming to the strip for advice for a friend today.
She has 9 cats (the house is big – 2 levels and can handle them. Lately, one or more has started to pee and poop outside of the box. EVERYWHERE!!! She spends her days cleaning. Counters, floors, you name it. All have been fixed and lived there a long time without any issues.
Her husband is mostly bedridden. He’s a smoker, refuses to stop even tho they are very poor. This causes her a lot of stress.
Does anyone think this could be the cause of the new behavior? Nothing has really changed in the house. The husband has been in this state, mostly by choice, ever since I met her over 3 yrs ago. Yesterday she asked me to research free online divorce forms for her. That’s how bad the stress is. She put off the divorce papers until they were pretty much forced to do a reverse mortgage because he threatened to kick her and all of the animals out and she had nowhere to go. But this reverse mortgage is in her name only so she stays but he will have to go.
She rarely leaves the house now because she can’t leave the cats alone.
To Gweedo and everyone else: we are currently on welfare while waiting for Paul’s disabiliy cheques to start arriving and my disability to be approved. Our meds are covered ONLY if they are on a government approved list, so sometimes the doctors have to do some interesting juggling. Leaving for hospital to see neurologist in about 30 minutes, will try to remember to check back in when we get back, otherwise will see you all tomorrow.
My sister is having her leg amputated today at noon. If I didnt have a Dr’s appointment at 11 today (that I have waited a month for) I would be in Mississippi right now. Thank all of you again for all your prayers, and good wishes, positive thoughts released to the universe, etc. It really does mean a lot, both to me and to my sisters family. Kay thinks its wonderful that I have such a prayer chain going. We do believe in the power of prayer! I feel that its already helped her to some extent, because she is still with us.I already know how to tease her. I will tell her that this is a heck of a way to lose some weight! She is very weight conscious, and I know it will make her at least smile.
TY all for your comments. She’s had them all to the vet for checkups. And that ain’t cheap! She, too, is on assisted living funds. I think it has something to do with the husband and HIS smells. Think “outside of the litter box” in regards to him, too. I did not want to get caught up in this whole thing but she asked for help, advice and research. She does not have a computer.
I’m so sorry for everyone’s troubles! Wishing courage and healing for people and furkids alike. Queen, your friend should talk to a lawyer. A change in circs sounds in order, which might just clear up her kitty’s issues, too.
So sorry so many of you are going through such difficult times! May all of you find that silver lining sooner than later! Peaceful thoughts and prayers for all of you! And also for the man who made this friendly page all possible, Graham Harrop!
Ruth I’m so sorry for your sister’s trouble.Happy We sat here and giggled at Simon’s Cat this morning, great way to start our day! Thank youQueen I too think multiple litter boxes is the only way with 9 cats, but I thing the stress in that house is reflecting on the cats. They are very intuitive.LadyKat You too are in my thoughts, The best you can do is sometimes the best you can do. I’m pulling for you and Paul.Everyone I hope your week is filled with love!
My sister came through the amputation with flying colors. They are going to remove the tube after she wakes up. Once she is out of ICU, they will start teaching her how to get around and manage now that she is minus the leg.THANK YOU ALL for the prayers, good wishes etc. I have great feelings of gratitude to Graham Harrop for allowing us to form this community of cat loving people, and letting us vent, laugh, share it all (the good and the bad), but mostly for giving us these cats and Annie to fall in love with.
Just have time to say that the family here is wonderful. Wet and Soggy and LadyKat and others, hang in there. Praying for you.I think the snow sculpture was meant for the dog park down the street. Maybe the cat sculpture is there… but not for long…
Ruth, it sounds like you’re doing the very best you can for your sister. Great pictures today, too. Hope everyone who is dealing with issues will get a good resolution ASAP. The new Simon’s Cat is superb!

I’d hire a new contractor, cats!!!! Bet Woof has talent.
For all fellow TC aficionados, my best thoughts go out to you. Sharing your travails surely helps. Prayers to you today from me and mine.
I agree that a separate litter box for the ‘troubled’ kitty is a good start. And a new home for that (ugh) husband!
