Actually, the quip made me wonder something about lightning. Photos of it do show a jagged path, straight lines between scattered points as it leaps from one point of high electrical potential to another of low potential, then to the next one. Is there some minimum distance between such points? If not, why aren’t the lines (path segments) very short, thus appearing from a distance to be curves?

Thank you, SydneyCityTV. I suspected that was the case, but I wasn’t sure. I’ve never seen that particular issue addressed here in the US.
