Morning, Tracyville! This is great! I hadn’t expected the windmill to come into the story. I just love that scene from the old movie where the windmill is on fire and the creature throws Dr. Frankenstein out of the window and he lands on one of the blades and slides down it to safety!
Shades here of Governor Otis and Perfume Plenty trapped atop a Ferris Wheel (in a closed for the Winter) - Amusement Park. By a vengeful Teen Age gang !HEAVY Snowfall . . . and the Governor would slip, falling to his death . . .Perfume later rescued by police . . .Chet Gould’s final story Nov / Dec 1977
Shades of Frankenstein! But Gruesome and Einstein need to come in from the cold, and the MCU is not likely to look there for them. Perhaps they will encounter another Nemesis that will set the mill alight….
Good morning DT friends. And a good morning to those who don’t post. Joe and Mike have out done themselves! Maybe there will be a lightning strike or an electrical short. Then the fire department will show up and capture the bad guys. Y’all have a great day.
“A windmill figured prominently in the first Frankenstein movie that caught on fire at the end.” (Umm… technically that says the first Frankenstein movie caught fire, not the windmill—isn’t English wonderful?) In the movie, the villages intentionally set the windmill ablaze.
On a less auspicious note, let us not forget (however much we might want to) that the final Dick Locher Tracy story ended in a windmill…
All they have to do is follow the yellow brick road to…. the buildings corner! LOL! Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. We laid mom to rest on Saturday but we know it’s not a goodbye, it’s ’see you later".
Thanks to all who explained the significance of a windmill in past monster movies, etc. I didn’t know that, so would have missed Mike’s subtle joke. Like mumbles in the post above, my first thought was Wormy hiding in the closed-for-the-winter fairgrounds scoreboard, because that is one of my all time favorites stories from Gould’s prime.@ too late song@NightShade09There does appear to be a moonscape style pock mark in the second panel; I just figured it’s part of the design of the miniature golf course – maybe it’s one of the holes a player must put a ball into?
yeah, but with Abner’s voice on the “closed” message, this must be another of his places; Gruesome better be careful ,or he might accidentally get zapped….
Welcome back, Stilldamatt. Maybe Don Quick Oatie will reappear and charge the windmill once more. ’Twas a thrilling character who made his mark through this strip to 5-Star Fame. I forgot who the writer was……….

Ahhh, the old mill! I wonder what type of tools Gruesome has in mind and what he plans to do with them.
Jelfring and McPheeters : The strip is showing fine for me. Maybe it was just a temporary glitch.
