So, I hear you have a cat. Correct. Anything special or unique about it? Anything that makes it not just like everyone else's cat? Anything that makes it different from every other domestic cat. Aha! No sir. How did you know? Robots will never understand humans.

It’s a robot cat. Manual was translated from Japanese. No idea how to program it to be “special”.

Totally doesn’t matter….live cat or completely factory default robot cat…A real human would tell him all about its picky food preferences, how it wakes him up at dawn, and how its eye color is unique… and then pull out 17 pictures of it doing funny things…
Whether they’re actually funny to anybody else or not.Only an alien robot wouldn’t find anything special about his own cat.

My cat is the Best Cat Ever!

A dear friend of mine runs an unofficial Old Cat Home in her condo. She loves her cats and spends lots of money on medical treatment for them. I appreciate her sentimentality, but don’t share it. I have to restrain my evil self from telling her what my grandfather did when his cats or dogs got old and sick. He was fond of them but surely didn’t spend money on vets beyond basic shots. He wasn’t cruel, just practical as farmers usually are.

Cats have a symbiotic relationship with feline toxoplasmosis. The parasite infects the humans , and causes brain damage that makes people think that they love cats. Check the Ignoble Prize web site.

As a truncated version of the Voight-Kampff test, I can see where this would be useful, however, the detective did not anticipate this reaction

Having been around plenty of cats in my lifetime, I can tell you that cats have character and personality too. I’ve never met a cat that was the same as “any other cat.” Every one of them has been different in their own special way.
