I know this is comic strip and lots of leniency needs to be liberally applied when it comes to culture and the facts, but Michelangelo’s “David,” which is depicted loosely here, had nothing to do with papal commissions. True, popes did commission works from Michelangelo, but the “David” was not one of them—the most famous papal commission for Michelangelo was the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican. The “David” is housed in a museum in Florence, where it was commissioned and created. This strip is humorous also in that the “David” is a colossal statue and so to contrast it with lawn gnomes is comical.

I could see a mirrored gazing ball in the middle of St. Peter’s Square.
Or a bunch of pinwheels. Could double as a very small solar farm.
