“Take care of it – it’ll be worth a fortune in 40 years!”-Make that over 50 years. This strip is set in the mid to late 1960’s.

The Schwinn Orange Krate….every boy’s dream. But the front wheel should be smaller than the rear, 16" front, 20" rear.

All that is missing is sissy-bar Robert T is correct on that bike the front wheel was smaller than the back. Not worth as much now as 5 years ago market dies for those bikes

Schwinn had a bike in approximately 1974 that had the 5 speed shifter on the upper frame and equal sized wheels. My little brother wanted one so bad, but Schwinn had changed over to the thumb engaged handlebar shifter when he got the bike for Christmas. I had a cotton picker one speed ($105 as I recall). Fun (til it got stolen) but heavy as heck…

My hubby and his brothers all got those bikes for Christmas one year. They were talking yesterday about what a wonderful Christmas that was.

Still have my late-‘60s Royce Union 3-speed “muscle bike” hanging in the basement. A friend gave it to me when he got his first 10-speed (back in the mid-’70s). I’ve replaced the saddle, bottom bracket, cables, and tires, but I over-hauled it for my son to ride when he was of that age (back in the ‘90s). It’s got a fair bit of rust on the chrome, but it’s still in good working condition!

Not only did the seat position change by panel 4, the handlebar shape changed, too.
