“what An Inconvenient Truth did for global warming, Lee Fulkerson’s persuasive documentary does for a vegan diet”. Makes me want a bacon-wrapped corndog even more, or a bacon/mushroom & swiss-cheese burger(fires on the side)…..while I’m burning copies of Inconvenient Truth to keep from freezing.

And how does turkey bacon fit into their one-upmanship game, other than it’s nearly inedible?

There’s such a thing as turkey bacon. I should know. I’ve eaten a lot of it for three years.

Here in Michigan we have feral swine running around but nobody wants to hunt them despite the damage they do to the farmers’ fields because they are such a boar to hunt.

Wild pigs aren’t funny. Domestic pigs quickly revert to a feral body type and behavior after just a few generations & pigs litter more than once a year. Feral pigs cause massive crop damage and some states have declared them non-game animals, vermin. “Shoot all you want, they’ll make more.”

I would suggest that what makes bacon so tasty has a lot to do with the spices and herbs used in the process. I once added the herbs and spices to a dish I made for some people who were vegetarian at a potluck. Everyone liked it. If a vegetarian dish were made with the spices used to make bacon, it would probably also be pretty tasty.

I agree with other comments about the amount of meat and dairy products consumed by many Americans (myself included). It would be healthier to reduce how much we eat. It would also be easier than cutting it out totally.
