You don’t find too many racist kindergartners either, but somehow by high school, life becomes pretty segregated.

I would think that Rat would want everyone else to be unselfish, so that he can take advantage of them.

Actually we don’t teach them to be share. We teach them that they are special and pump them so full of self esteem that they think the world revolves around them.

No teaching required. It’s called original sin.

It is not the schools that are at fault, it is bad parenting. Plain and simple.

“We” are already teaching the kids that, Rat. That’s the problem. Morality is only for the old-fashioned, the fringe, the clingers. In the world of narcissism and hedonism, anything goes, and “that’s okay.”

Kids become messed up as soon as they’re born. Babies are quick studies and everyone around them is already messed up.

Pig actually contradicts Rat’s “reasoning”, being one of the least selfish characters in comics. And Pig is more or less a little kid in a pig’s body.

Kids aren’t taught to share; they’re forced to share and they resent it. It’s a lesson they remember when they get old enough to defend what belongs to them.

i’m not so sure rat that we aren’t already doing what you suggest. after all more is ‘caught’ by kids in watching people than ‘taught’ to them by words.

Just teach kids they can be as selfish as they want, but they can’t have anything unless they’re willing to give up something. The problem isn’t selfishness, that’s just human nature. The problem is everybody wants everything for FREE. They get all snotty when they find out nobody’s going to give them anything without some sort of payment.
