Charlie Brown can’t be told that he wears the same shirt every day (although he will be told later on). It was orange earlier in the week, yellow yesterday and back to orange today.
Not dirt roads. When I was a kid growing up in the Bay Area, a good storm would wash dirt into the gutter where it would gather in low areas. I would often make dams out of the dirt to hold back the water until there would be so much water the dam would break.

is that the gossip magazines motto?

That motto has died. New motto seems to be “Everyone should be a germaphobe and disinfect for every little thing!”
