I haven’t seen a good old-fashioned parade in years (the Macy’s Parade doesn’t count — I’m talking about actually seeing one live and in person, although I once saw that one live and in person, too!).

This reminds me when I was young the high school marching band would practice marching on my street, so every fall and spring I got to "see a parade’ a few times a week.

I remember trying to do “parades” in my neighbourhood. But as there were only 3 kids (me and my 2 youngest siblings), it never attracted any attention then, either.

Today’s Peanuts classics are 10 years apart – this one from 1951 and a replacing a may not be suited for present year 1968 strip from 1961.

At this point in time there were only six characters, so the parade couldn’t be very large, anyway.

In our neighborhood when I was growing up, we used chalk (or chunks of scrap gypsum board) to draw roads in the street outside our houses. Then, all the kids would drive their pedal cars, trikes, and wagons down our “roads” after decorating them with crepe paper, balloons, etc.

Ahhhhh… to be a kid again!
