Wow. Even kids as young as those two know what a mother-in-law is.

My mother always got along with her mother-in-law — it was her FATHER-in-law whom she couldn’t stand!

I don’t get along with my mother-in-law, but then again, my husband doesn’t get along with her, either.

Mother-in-law jokes were a comedy staple in the late 40s and 50s. Although this strip is probably the only mother-in-law joke in Peanuts.

I lucked out. My mother in law was a different sort, but she was good-hearted and treated me decently, which is all you can reasonably ask.

All our in-laws and out-laws are gone!

But they are not forgotten…

Mothers-in-law were and are comedy gold, in TV, radio, and movies. And of course comic strips prbably going back to the first “husband and wife” strips.

Even Schulz had his off days.
