    I’ve heard Schulz say that he was the first cartoonist to use actual musical scores, but he was talking more about Schroeder. I wonder if this is the first example?

    At the top, no. But was Admiral Yamamoto who planned Pearl. And as he predicted the Japanese during his time as naval commander did heavily win many of the battles from December 7, 1941 to June 4-6, 1942. Not all the battles, obviously, and some continued well past ‘42 even. But June 4-6, 1942 marks almost exactly six months since Pearl. Midway was the turning point of the war in the Pacific and after Midway we know that Yamamoto’s prediction was accurate.
