Looks like something Calvin and Susie would converse about.

Going to have to go back to January to check (or go into the archive on the regular Peanuts page and go back to September 1951) but wasn’t there a strip at the “start of the school year” where Charlie Brown was getting all worried about tests and homework then remembered he’s not in school yet while Pattty is heading to her first day of the school year? Really shows what we’ve been saying about how fast things were changing back then.

Cheating on tests accomplishes nothing. I remember when I was reprimanded for knowing test answers in advance(I didn’t, but try convincing the teacher).

Charlie Brown, don’t cheat yourself. Study and work hard.

If this had been a young Abbott & Costello…: “What’s the answer to the first question?” “No.” “No? What do you mean no? This is a true/false quiz!” “True.” “So what’s the answer to the first question.” “No!” “What?” “No! Not what!” “Well what’s the answer?” “Why?” “Why what?” “Exactly!”

This only proves CB is capable of an in-depth conversation with someone brighter than himself…

These early strips do feel more like comics. From the 60s onward, they feel more like short stories.

For a fill-in-the-blank test:Charlie Brown: “Psst, Patty, what’s the answer to the first question?”“Imadoofus.”“Imadoofus, OK, and how ’bout the second question?”“Imablockhead.”“Hmm, and the third question?”“Imaloser.”“Oh, thanks a fat mill for nothing!”“Oh, anytime.”
