What were expecting, kid, for digital appliances to crash? Oh, wait, that conspiracy was 15 years ago.

I always thought it was an anti-climax. Party is in full swing, kiss your sweetie, and then everybody gets their coats and start to leave. Whoopie! Fun! Us old fogeys go to bed early.

I’m certainly not young…. but I always try to see the new year in….

I may have missed a few due to illness or just dozing off…but I don’t recall ever purposely going to bed before midnight on New Year’s Eve since I was about 10, when my parents started letting us stay up for it…and that was long ago.

There used to be a group of us who would get together on the 31st. Eat some cookies, drink some coffee, put together a jig-saw puzzle – and yawn. By 11:45, those of us who were visiting had started washing up the dishes. 11:55 we all had our coats. The ball would drop, kisses all around, and by 12:15 two of the three visiting couples were home.

A couple of years ago we decided we couldn’t handle all that excitement, and now hubby and I go to bed at 10:30, and the neighbors wake us up with fireworks and cowbells. A sleepy kiss, and back to sleep. Whoopee!

Staying home. We will go watch early fireworks at 7:45, then come home, watch a little TV and go to bed. Either daughter or mother-in-law will phone at midnight, we will grunt Happy New Year to them and go back to sleep. We are splurging and buying a baby bottle of sparkling wine for mimosas in the morning.

New Year’s eve hasn’t been the same since the passing of Dick Clark. The shows are pretty boring now. Will watch the Stooges marathon until 11:58 pm, change channels to watch the ball drop, toast the new year, then switch back to the stooges.

Although there is a party with fireworks here in our community, the weather is in the single digits and my warm home is too cozy to go out. As * Plods with Beer* said – the new year will be there in the morning. Enjoy the last of 2014 with party or not and Happy New Year!

Staying home and having a nice night. I live in a country type setting and I think my neighbor may be a militia kind of guy cause whatever he fires off sounds as big as a cannon. I know it’s not fireworks because he shoots that and many other guns year round.

We’ll start out with dinner at our club, returning home likely by 7. Next, maybe a movie at home with a little wine followed by bed most likely around 10:30..If I/we wake up before midnight we might check the time projected on the bedroom ceiling before we kiss and go back to sleep..Fireworks might be later if I wake up before the sun rises…(snerk)
