Being writers of a comic and not techies, Scott & John have no clue how valuable LinkedIn can be. I am connected to dozens of computer techs. We share a lot of information and get a lot of work done.
humph! Had LinkedIn.. worked to make a decent page, had 200+contacts. In 4 years it never helped me professionally in any way – and, just like most of the other comments mentioned – it’s a way for marking people to try and shove useless and endless e-mails to your inbox. (I’m an engineer). I erased the page and discontinued it. I see now that they are trying to turn into a job posting/recruiting company… good luck with that…
I’ve been on LinkedIn for several years & if I weren’t now retired it would be a valuable alternate source of job opportunities in addition to several other professional public safety groups I belong to. I suspect a lot depends on the segment that utilizes it better.

I’ve been on LinkedIn for years, does anybody know what it’s for? (Rhetorical)

I don’t like the way Linkedin invades your email contact list and sends relentless “invitations” without your permission.
That’s borderline EVIL! Not to mention desperate…

My dentist kept sending me invites to join LinkedIn… so I ended up getting an account. I never go there though.
