    Nabuquduriuzhur: It wasn’t metallurgy, but metal. No iron ore, little copper, gold is too soft. On the other hand, obsidian may be delicate, but they used a standardized size so a broken segment could be replaced easily. It is still used in microsurgery because it takes an edge only ten atoms wide. Spanish records claim that a maquahilta could decapitate a horse in one stroke. Yep, nasty.
