Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for January 10, 2015

Transcript:
Calvin: "Why does man create?"
Calvin: "Is it man's purpose on earth to express himself, to bring form to thought and to discover meaning in experience?"
Calvin: "Or is it just something to do when he's bored?"
Man — and woman — are capable of doing great thing when he or she is bored. He or she can also end up doing something that will cause the fire department to come out.
Monty Python: “Tschaikovsky: Was he the tortured soul who poured out his immortal longings into dignified passages of stately music, or was he just an old poof who wrote tunes?”
Calvin, like other comic strip characters, (Peanuts) was destined to forever be a six year old. However it is easy to imagine him becoming a philosophy major, or even a Professor of Philosophy.
As a Child, when I became Bored and my Creation Process began to assert itself… Well, let’s just say that the results were often Not appreciated by my Mom!
In a closed system, matter and energy can neither be created nor destroyed; they can only be changed from one form to another..Now Calvin, “bore” on that concept…

The fascination to go into space has existed for hundreds of years. But as we do things and they’re successful, people get bored. (Jim Lovell)

What, no anatomically correct snowmen, Calvin? How will you ever shock the neighborhood or give Mom apoplexy? The day will be wasted.
