Some niche and encyclopedic textbooks can cost as much as a new PS4/XB1 or more, my favorite example is the Oxford English Dictionary 20 volume set for $1000. There are law books that fetch 3-4 times the price for 1/20th the content.

How true! I went thru Los Angeles city College paying only for my books and a student body fee of 6 or 7 dollars per semester.
