I guess the studio guy has never heard of autotune. Without that, probably 1/2 the existing “singers” would not be on the air.

I don’t think it’s typical for the jingle-writer to also perform for the recording. Doesn’t he usually just submit a demo tape along with lyrics so the sponsor can hire actual musicians to make the recording?

Autotune is a “sound” now, whether you need it or not, just as reverb was back in the day: you sound professional with it. Alas.

To gt58: He’s an old guy, so his recording equipment is old tech. No digital here, and it’s probably a 4-track tape machine. Ah, I remember the days. . .
