Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for December 31, 2014
Transcript:
Phoebe: The name "Phoebe" means "bright and pure." Marigold: It is a good name. Phoebe: I guess, but people keep saying it wrong. Sometimes I think I should just give up, and start pronouncing my name "Fobe." And it doesn't rhyme with "Dweeby," so Dakota would be thwarted! Marigold: It does rather suit you.

People who don’t know how to pronounce the names of characters in Gilbert & Sullivan are unworthy the notice of civilized humanity.

what an evil plan it is too. Now call your self Forange.

Alas, what boots it?
“Forange, ForangeSlipped off her door hinge,Fell with her nose like a knob on the ground,Now if you turn it it goes ’round and around.”
Ain’t no cruelty like kiddy cruelty. But our own dear Phoebe can at least be glad that Dakota has never read Thurber’s “Further Fables for Our Time”.

@ kayk and John W….you two added to an absolutely GREAT read. Thank you. What a better world with a little more Gilbert, Sullivan and Thurber in it.

But if she started pronouncing her name Foby, Dakota will just replace dweeby with dopey. :/
