I first saw Ghostbusters when I was six. I was terrified, and couldn’t stand to finish watching. It took me 13 years until I decided to rewatch it.

I watched Independence Day when I was eight and loved it… watched it again eight years later and shut it off midway because I didn’t remember all the ******* profanity!

I was very young when I first saw The Wizard Of Oz. I didn’t like it either. The witch scared me. But now it’s an important part of my classic film collection.

Were those monkeys flying out of Earl’s butt?

It took me countless years and numerous attempts to get completely through ‘Silence of the Lambs’. Even though I was pushing 40 years old the first time I tried. Good movie.

When I was a kid they showed it on network television every year.

I didn’t make it past the tornado the first time I tried to watch The Wizard, but then I live in The Alley. I also was freaked out by the banshee in “Darby O’Gill and the Little People.”

Am I the only one who thought Glinda and the Wizard were at least as creepy as the Wicked Witch of the West?

No, I hated that movie too!

I would argue that Margaret Hamilton gave one of the two or three best performances in film history, terrorizing two generations of kids.

My favorite movie growing up. I watched it every year on National TV. One of the first I bought when Video Tapes came out as well.

Beautiful — I was 3 or 4 years old and my Aunt, who was 6 years older was assigned to take me to see the movie. (1st run or slightly after that) When the Monkeys were to fly off to get Dorothy I hid under the theatre seat. Evelyn was embarrassed and I would not come out until the monkeys were gone. Now all of my Aunts, Uncles, Parents are gone and those are the moments we remember.

flying monkeys never bothered me, but the munchkin’s and their voices were just weird. especially the ‘lollipop kids’

The Flying Monkeys didn’t even scare me then, but I saw Psycho in the early 60’s and still don’t take showers.

My husband is 60 years old and still can’t watch The Wizard of Oz because those monkeys terrified him as a child. He wouldn’t let our kids watch it, either — not sure if any of them have ever actually seen it.

My mother took me to see Pinocchio when I was a little kid. I vaguely remember the incident but she said i was so scared when the scene with the whale came on she had to take me out to the lobby because of my crying and screaming. I still don’t like scary movies very much.

First time I saw Tthe Wizard of Oz I thought it was stupid and pathetic. Corny even and i was just a kid.

The “Flying Monkeys” scared me because I thought they were zombies.

Supernatural had an episode where you find out that Dorthy and Wicked Witch of the West and the flying monkeys aren’t only real, they are more terrifying than in the movies or books.

I missed that one. You wouldn’t happen to know the title of that particular episode so that I could look for it on a re-run, would you? Thanks!

The only movie that I could not watch, and still can’t, is The Exorcist.

understandable Earl. Those monkeys were .. were just not nice. (I first saw the movie when I was 6.)
