Been up to Cleveland a few times. I like it a lot. But like every other city you just have to know where to go and, more importantly, which areas to stay away from.

I guess they no longer call it the mistake on the lake?

Wonder if the Cleveland paper carries this strip.

I live in Ohio and have been to Cleveland only once to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I do remember it was pretty nice for a big city though, much cleaner than Chicago.

They have Montoni’s Pizza Parlor. But watch out for their school bus drivers.

Never been to Cleveland, but I listen to WCLV all of the time – maybe the best radio station online.

Cleveland also has the best public transit in North America; something I wish my hometown of Cincinnati had. Here in Florida, it’s all cars and buses – no light rail!

It’s been a long time since I’ve been to Cleveland but I do remember the Winking Lizard. Great food and drink!

I have enjoyed my few trips to Cleveland quite a bit. Lots of stuff to do and see. Like first poster said, you have to know where to go and where NOT to go, like ANY major city.

I’m not sure if “affordability” really counts. My brother from Chicago once told me that the winter heating bill and summer cooling bill pretty much add up to about what your mortgage bill would be in Sunny SoCal, where all you need to do is open the windows 11 months out of the year.

Houston hot? Yes, and humidity and lots and lots of traffic, too.

notsooldguy: High temperature and humidity is called “Houston weather”. The British consulate there pays a tropical hardship bonus.

Night-Gaunt49: The last hurricane we had here on the Red River was Carla: the eye still distinct that far inland and salty rain reported as far as Kansas. Fortunately, recent tornadoes have been EF 0 and touched only briefly, but I saw the 1957 Dallas tornado, which a couple of places I previously lived and worked and I personally knew one of the fatalities.
