I usually end up in the cookbook section and forget what I came in for.

I go to our local library quite often. Admittedly, sometimes it’s to borrow a DVD, but books rank right up there, too.

Back in the late 70’s, California voted in a change in the property tax laws…still referred to as Proposition 13…It stopped yearly property reassessment due to rampant appreciation, so people could keep their homes…But lowering, then freezing, property taxes cut over half the budget for most cities and counties, and they’ve never recovered.

Libraries, being considered less essential than police and fire departments, have suffered heavily. Our main library here is forced to keep cutting expenses.they even hold fund drives and 2nd hand book sales, but still have to close at 6pm, and at 4 on Saturday afternoon, and all day Monday,,, not great for kids with homework, and no internet at home.

    It’s sad….

    And 2Old… me too!

I have about a half dozen favorite authors and I like to own their books because I often re-read them after a year or two. Plus, I just like having books around me. Half.com is a good place to get used books for cheap (even after you pay for shipping).

I use my local library for audio books and reference gun pricing. I buy cook books whenever they are for sale. Sometimes I borrow current DVDs.

Was a Library Assistant in elementary and middle school grades. Being an introvert, I liked the quiet time away from most of the other kids. Still read a lot… 8 books going right now but I gotta try to cut that back to 4-5 for sanity’s sake.

I don’t use a library much, if I want a book, I usually buy it. My wife, on the other hand, is a frequent visitor. So much so, I’m pretty sure she accumulates points for book borrowing…

I love the library! Used to work at the public library in my area and I love to read regular books, no kindle for me! As a nontraditional college student, I do however prefer to do my research online.

When my mother and some of her friends retired from Nursing, they volunteered together 2 or 3 days a week at our local Library, she cut back to one so she could babysit her grandsons! :-) After she died in 2005, every Friday I would take Daddy in to pick out large print books. He was an avid reader until he died in 2009 at the age of 96.
