Wasabi is hot sauce. Wabi sabi is one of those borderline-religion spiritual movements.

Yeah… And everybody connected with the show has maintained for all these years that kemosabe had nothing to do with quien sabe (who knows, or he who knows in Spanish) and they didn’t know that tonto means “stupid”..

Night.. Whoa! Did I say I thought Tonto was stupid? I said the producers et al denied that they knew his name meant “stupid” in Spanish. And his calling the Lone Ranger “Kemosabe” could imply deference to a more knowledgeable person… which they also deny. What I’m talking about, in a nutshell, is what I would call racism…. unacknowledged in the book, unaltered for the show, and unchallenged by the viewers of its day…. racism that the show’s creators vehemently insist wasn’t meant.I’m older than you, and I grew up watching the Lone Ranger….Tonto was a hero to me. Had I known Spanish then, I’d probably have written to protest. You know, I’ve mentioned this before….but your “corrections” and criticisms of other posters, often based on faulty understanding of what they’re saying, has gotten you in trouble before around here. Please stop criticizing your online friends and neighbors!Maybe you can’t help misunderstanding… but if you refrain from correcting people, at least you won’t so often show it.

And yes. I had to go look up Wabi Sabi – “Wabi-sabi (侘 寂 ?) represents a comprehensive Japanese world view or aesthetic centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection”Now I know. And I think Agnes has chosen well.On the other hand – I just like the way Wabi Sabi sounds. In the mind, on the tongue. Sounds cool.
