Good morning my friends. I have a small mat under the food and water bowls for my dogs. It helps keep the floor dry. Y’all have a prosperous day.

I wonder if that ratio went down if the water bowl was raised higher; I noticed some wire frames had been available for the convenience for taller dogs.

I keep 2 large stainless steel bowls of water for the dog and cats. One in the kitchen and one in the walk in shower. I put the dog food bowl in a 12" plant stand but not the water because the cats would topple the water bowl. I do keep the food bowl away from the water bowl though. The cats have their own stainless steel fountain in another bathroom on the vanity. The water bowl in the kitchen has a waterproof welcome mat under it to catch any spills. The raised bowls are to help large dogs that tend to have bloat cut down on the amount of air they ingest by raising the food and water to their height.

@daleandkristen: try wooden skewers. Place them point end down about 3 inches apart. I use them to keep cats out of my flower beds.

My Chihuahua makes no mess at all with his water. The Pitbull, on the other hand, makes a big mess. It’s not so much when he’s actually drinking but when he stops to clean off his front legs, even though they are bone dry. Then when he’s all done drinking, he trails dripping water all over the floor. :S sigh The mat underneath the water does not help at all.

That would be a two to one ratio. If there were three cups to start and one spilled onto the floor, only two were left to drink.
