No, I’ve checked this first. I’ve asked at least 10 Japanese natives how they would ask for someone’s name, and they don’t put the “anata no” at the front. I’ve taken Japanese language classes at a school here in Kagoshima, and the teacher, a native Japanese, turns pale when one of the American or British students uses “anata no”. He’s very adamant about not using it. I generally don’t have to ask for people’s names, and even if I did and got it wrong, I’m 2-3 times bigger than most Japanese so I don’t have to worry about being thumped.
