Yes, we understand. But Alfred, you are 58, when will you mature? Just how fine is this wine you have been aging in that saggy cask, and when do you balance the potential improvements of more aging with the losses of time? I think it might be time to pour out a few bottles of your “wisdom” and taste the aroma.

A very well done animation today. How did Nighthawks and Stel get all that in the space allowed? Hi,Yo Kibble!

OK, Lone Basset, but did the stagecoach ever make it to town?

Alice ought to squirt grapefruit juice at Alfred.

    Hi, everybody!

    I can’t believe we’re already commenting on

the April 10th  2020 “CLEO and COMPANY”

    (it’s on Sherpa, of course)

    I mean… um… sure, if it’s here, it’s time to comment.

    I guess I mean that I can’t believe it’s April 10th, already.

    2020 still feels new.

A few days ago I was waiting with bated breath for daylight savings time… and Spring…

and now both are well underway… unless we talk about the weather, which keeps boomeranging back to February.

Anyhow… Yay! the Lone Basset rides again!

In a great animation from Nighthawks and StelBel….

with his sort of faithful sidekick, Alpo…

which is Romanian for “target” (bad choice for traveling through Indian country) …

or perhaps Spanish for… um… “You can call me Al.” *

But at least it doesn’t mean “stupid.”

Not to mention, his handsome steed, Kibble….

a name that, frankly, would make me nervous if I were made of horsemeat and belonged to a dog.

    I know, I know… I digress….

    I’m just pondering Dennis’ question.

It’s a compact marvel of storytelling, squished into less than 1 Mb.

    How did they do that?

I think maybe by holding up a big yellow sign to cover all the action, while Cat Cavendish and his gang are captured, and dragged, howling, to justice.

Someday when Sherpa has been rebuilt (cough…) maybe they’ll allow TWO Mb…

and we can politely request some infill.

Meanwhile — “Hiyo Kibble… and awaaaaayyyy!”

    * Coincidentally… another great musical piece….

I haven’t seen the Lone Stranger since childhood. I’d much rather watch the Duke in Stagecoach anyway.

While I’m here… some conversations/questions I intended to answer in the last few days… but didn’t…

Let’s see… there’s the upcoming demise of US Acres and Garfield-Garfield… and the notification.

Mabrndt said someone may have made a mistake because there are 3 months left of the former…

My theory is that they’ll torture us with that notice for the whole time.

    And why?

Strips disappear without notice all the time… one of my favorites, Bent Objects, recently went missing from my queue and the alphabetical list…

Not even archives left. Probably a licensing issue.

Tigressy… long URLs sometimes fail … but I couldn’t figure out why one was scary.

TWO for Nighthawks … 1) IIRC, the character in the film IS “Betelguese” … I think he uses “Beetlejuice” to explain the pronunciation.

Hard to tell in spoken dialogue, but I remember a sign that said “Betelguese.”

Sad about the star! Orion is my favorite constellation.

And 2) You were trying to make me be naughty but yes… you are correct, and in fact it um.. expands upon itself.

    Oh… and JP Steve…

Meant to say I’m a keyboard watcher too… and I’ve disappeared my text a LOT.

Also used to tutor computer newbies and got asked about it.

I figured out one common way … on a PC, anyway…

The Shift key is near the Control key.

You think you typed Shift-a for a capital A… you really typed Control-a … which is “Select all”, and highlights everything…

Your next key press replaces it… so if it was a lone A, as in “A sentence…” it all becomes a blank space.

If it’s the beginning of a word… say “Alfred” … your text now begins with “lfred”

In any case, I’m sure you know this, but I used to tell students… ALWAYS, if a glitch occurs,

if your VERY NEXT move is Control Z or “Undo”… you MIGHT get it back.

Sorry if I left anybody out…

I ran out of character count and brainpower at the same time.

    I identify with Alfred…

I can picture myself with that hat and dialogue.

    G’night….

Good to see the evil cat behind the bars of the saloon. He’s always been heavy handed.

I just love the adventures of the Lone Basset! As always, it’s the ‘names’ that send up a hearty chuckle. And then, listening to the Cleveland band playing the whole William Tell Suite takes it over the top.

    Thanks NH and Stel.

I hope the evil cat didn’t eat all the horses. Maybe the next thing that the Lone Basset will do is finding out why it has been almost 2 and a half years since Sherpa was suppose to be fixed.
