Elly should apologize to Ted and Irene, if she continues to work as John’s assistant. She should also explain to both of them she only said what she did because of her loyalty to her friend Connie who Ted was ‘dating’ while he was having an affair with Irene.
I don’t think she should apologize. She’s blowing it out of proportion. She was only speaking the truth and if they can’t realize that then they have bigger issues to get through than an acquaintance’s bluntness.
that once Connie got Ted in the mood for marriage and she refused him, then he went after the more marriage-minded Irene, who accepted him immediately.-—————-Connie wanted to get married, but Ted didn’t. And then when she moved away and started life over, he suddenly wanted to marry her, but, as the saying goes, that ship had sailed. So he turned to his secretary, who looks older and less attractive than Connie. Irene was sort of Ted’s ‘spare in the trunk.’

Very clever observation, that’s how my husband used to do it!

I think that they would only be very upset because the observation was SO TRUE…
