Sorry, I have to start off with the cranky, but if my wife asked me to shine her shoes, I would tell her to do it herself. She doesn’t shine mine, or do my laundry or my ironing.

But I would play kickball with her….

Earl knows all about her kickball talents.

Is Opal afraid to get her hands dirty???

Opal can do that to polish her shining dress shoes by herself!

She just said that because she couldn’t give in to think of a better excuse.

You will notice in this strip and in lots of homes, the woman does all the cooking, housekeeping, and laundry. What does a retired man do?

Of course she can polish her own shoes but what’s wrong with asking him to help a bit?

Actually, it was Earl who was messing with Opal, and her sarcastic response went right over Nelson’s head. It was hilarious though – you’re never too old to play kickball! :-)

Marvee asks what does a retired man do? voice of experience-he follows you about and asks “what are you doing?” or if married to my friend Glenda, he counts your steps while watching you clean up after dinner. all of this is in between bouts of watching the inside of his eyelids while in his recliner. but i gotta love him ‘cause he makes me smile every day.
