We’ll have to find another comic strip to meet. Perhaps margueritem and leaky squeaky will suggest a new meeting place for the sock puppets (aka groupies)…

I would like to put in a vote for “Pickles”? I think there are a lot of….. Umm…..Mature folks here in the Annie (unofficial) fan club? I know I can relate to the strip even though I’ve never been married.

I’m exiting early. Taken my meds and they’re starting to be felt. Having my bedtime tea, which is: Celestial Seasonimgs’ “SleepyTime” chamomile tea. The box it comes in has a green top. The tea has a touch of mint and I sweeten it with a little honey, Very relaxing, helps you get to sleep.

G’night all, be back in the A.M.

Hey, I missed something. How do you know they will end the strip June 14?? I always read the strips early and usually don’t come back in, but I haven’t seen anything about it.

This is sad, because it’s a very good comic. Punjab and the Asp will never come back? I hope that they at least wrap up the loose ends, and maybe gocomics can pick up some reruns. Papa is not in trouble with Junior dead, since Junior’s the one who killed the PI and Papa killed Junior to save Annie’s life. But it seems that Papa does have something to hide that would come out in a murder investigation.

“Howdy hi there friends and neighbors, this is your old pal Elmont T. Slim”

So papa has killed his addled-pated son Another terrible deed this butcher has done An evil man with a horrendous past A shadow over Annie’s life is cast The father exhibits no remorse Treats the death as a matter of course Lying there in the hot tropical night His rapidly bloated body is a sight A simple minded child-like man Who did not fit his fathers plan He has shuffled off his mortal coil No longer does he need to toil The time is now for Annie to scream Fight and fuss and make a scene To do her best to try to escape From what may be a terrible fate But for Annie time is fading fast Soon she will a memory of the past Laid low by the bottom line And that truly is a crime.

Jay Maeder and Ted Slampyak have done a marvelous job updating and re-energizing this strip, yet honoring the heritage.

One can only hope that they might be tagged to do the same for another once iconic strip about a famed, hardnosed police detective.

    Thank you Jay and Ted.

Man am I sad. I hate the idea of saying goodbye to “Little Orphan Annie.”

I especially like the comments made by IGoPogo2. And (clap, clap, whistle) another good one, WW.

But hey! Mr. Am! Mr. Am knows where Annie is! If Punjab and the Asp don’t help, surely Mr. Am will!

Little Orphan Annie, one of the best strips there is , is canceling but

mallard fillmore goes on and on and on and……

gee, that seems fair, so apparently the key to success is to have annie opine and spew out limbaugh/beck hate talk in between adventures……change the name to ‘little orphan sarah”

The news stories I saw said that syndication of “Annie” for print newspapers will cease next month. There is a good chance it will continue in digital media.

Yes, I just read that in today’s paper. Tribune says that they are “taking Annie into the internet age by pursuing new audiences for her in digital media.” “New audiences” doesn’t sound like gocomics necessarily. It’ll be interesting to see how this develops.

With this latest updating I feel a bit of optimism, which is certainly more comforting then cold gloom and doom thinking. Just cause it ain’t on paper don’t mean it ain’t. period?

For a dead man Blaster sure moves around a lot! Hope it hasn’t gotten to the point that Ted doesn’t care. He’s too good for that. I guess the big BB can’t take the time to update us on what they know, which has to be more then what we know!

    Peace.

Yes. I read in my morning paper that Annie has been around for 85 years. I’m 79, and I pretty much grew up with her (starting as Little Orphan Annie, of course). I will surely miss her, and hope that, as someone said, she will continue somehow on the web. By all means, if anyone finds out more about it please let us know.

Uggh, They think Annie was a kids strip. It is perhaps the best written and drawn continuity strip currently. Maybe Annie can join DC Comics First Wave characters- Doc Savage, the Avenger and the Spirit. All old timers.

The end of “Annie”?! What will they kill next, “Prince Valiant”? But “Dick Tracy” goes on? There is no justice in the comics biz.
