This is why I don’t do Christmas decorations. Put them up too early and I get rotten pumpkins thrown at the house; put them up too late and it is painted eggs.
In the town where I grew up, there was a family that left their Christmas tree up all year round. The year they started this, they had a son serving in Viet Nam who was scheduled to be discharged in the spring, so they had promised him that they would leave it up until he came home. However, he was killed in action before his discharge date, so they never took it down.

They give them away for free at the Christmas tree recycling center at the park.
