Larry it is pure economics. Hollywood does not have to pay for the special effects of approaching viruses. Keeps costs down.

Should we inoculate ourselves or the apes?

And STILL we have anti-vaxxers (not just in the States, they’re a growing concern in Norway too, now). Don’t those people watch movies?

And yet no cause or cure for lycanthrophy.

SyFy Channel has “12 Monkeys” and “Helix” back-to-back, both good shows, but two straight hours of post-viral-apocalypse is a bit much. At least on “The 100” they stuck with good old-fashioned post-nuclear holocaust. (I can’t speak for any of the zombie shows. I don’t do zombies. Or vampires either, unless they have a Hungarian accent.)

I blame a virus that made every screenwriter into a an unimaginative twit.

Ah, but Larry, “Omega Man”, “The Andromeda Strain”, “The Stand”…

Of course, back in the 50’s everything was caused by ‘Radiation’. Hollywood’s always a little slack, but they fall back on different crutches.
